For centuries people have sailed in boats. One day, maybe it was an indian,
noticed that the wind moved their canoe pretty darn good. Still later, a more modern ancestor thought that paddling was too hard. He may have used his girlfriend's skirt to first put a sail up a pole, and try to avoid paddling. (isn't history fun!) After she ran the pole up our ancestor, he went to the local hardware store and bought a 'real' mast. As you can see, canoe sailing has come a long way. The late 1800's and early 1900's saw a big increase in the 'sport' and actual contest were held, called ...regattas. Only the more affluent in our society were invited to a regatta, I suppose they didn't want guys there with sailingcanoes built from parts bought at a local hardware store.....guys like me! |

Since a canoe is a work of art, I thought
maybe you would find it entertaining to watch me put a sail to my ol' canoe..... |
